Hi FWH,

1st of all thank you for reaching out. Im not sure which comment of which article you have posted the above questions on but i would be MORE THAN GLAD to address your concerns point by point.

I will also try my best to remain as objective while explaining to you my side of the story so here goes. Before I begin let me state one thing clearly.

Arabs and Muslims arent the same. It is true our prophet (pbuh) was an Arab but that doesnt mean all muslims today are arabs or follow arabic customs for that matter. Arab is an ethnicity, muslim is a religion.

1. Islamic Law or Sharia is a vast collection of laws and writings gathered down from history something that is highly debatable. The people who blindly follow it are the Sunnis (the majority) and the Wahabis (an orthodox sect) have twisted and turned it over so many times that in its current form the Sharia Laws would not even contain .00001% of what Mohammad (PBUH) preached.
As for adultery, wife beating, and homos, we all know that Islam isnt the only faith that has encountered these problems. Let me refer you to the Christian abstinence programs in the US for reference.
Wife beating...hah now thats a hard one. Are all muslims wife beaters? Or are all wife beaters Muslims? Im sure thats a hard question for eveyone to follow but then again theres NO VERSE IN THE KORAN that states anything about the practice. This has again been an innovation from these self-proclaimed mullahs or as we like to call them Kath-Mullahs (or Mullah impersonators).

Answer to your question: There is a definite need for REFORM in such practices which can only be brought about through greater discourse. Ask ANY moderate or liberal muslim and he/she will denounce such draconian practices.

2. Hmmm...Mulsim texts are not the same as the Holy Quran so anyone down the years caould have inserted those points and made the texts "holy" only to start touting their own hate as the word of god or his messenger.

Answer: The Holy Quran clearly states that any one who kills EVEN ONE INNOCENT PERSON (muslim of non-muslim), it is the same as killing the ENTIRE HUMANITY. As the same time, if one saves the life of even one innocent person (muslim or non muslim), it is as though he/she has SAVED THE ENTIRE HUMANITY.

This is from the quran. If u want the passage i can give it to ya. But tell me, how does this fit in with the killing of innocents that the clerics today boast about??? Hint: Not very well.

3. Now to your final point and question. With regard to speading faith, im sure if ur christian, your faith tells u to do the same. In fact being from INDIA, we hear a lot about the missionaries forcing the native tribals in rural india to convert, sometimes even luring them with food and medicine. How is that charity? How can u help someone only if they convert to your faith? That sir, is just wrong!!!
Coming to Islam and its spread. PLEASE READ HISTORY FOR THIS ONE YOURSELF. In the early 7th century when the holy prophet (pbuh) revealed islam, the religion spread like wildfire (not by forcing converts but on its sheer agenda of social reform). By the propht (pbuh)'s death, it had reached Syria, Iran, the tip of Africa and even reached the shores of India (through arab traders).
What happened after his death was that his political opponents took over the fatih and pursued their own agenda i.e. empire and conquests by sword.

With regard to conversion, this again i quote from the quran's soora kafiroon (i.e. the verse of the denier). Kafir basically means one who denies faith even though it is presented to them.

I worship not that which you worship,
وَلَا أَنتُمْ عَابِدُونَ مَا أَعْبُدُ
"Nor will you worship that which I worship.
وَلَاأَنَا عَابِدٌ مَّا عَبَدتُّمْ
"And I shall not worship that which you are worshipping.
وَلَا أَنتُمْ عَابِدُونَ مَا أَعْبُدُ
"Nor will you worship that which I worship.
لَكُمْ دِينُكُمْ وَلِيَ دِينِ
To you be your religion, and to me my religion (Islamic Monotheism)

So then again my friend...where does this verse come in with all the forced conversions? When its comes to Jaziya and Dhimmi, again these were concepts that evolved after the death of Islams founders and were hence twisted to suit certain elements of the tribe that had territorial conquests.
But then again, this concept we can always discuss so to answer your question, i dunno what exactly, "Foutohhat Islameia," is but i know this. Spreadng ANY RELIGION BY THE SWORD IS IMPOSSIBLE. It can only truly be spread with WINNING THE HEARTS & MINDS OF THE DISBELIEVERS. So yes, killing and or forcing them to convert is indeed UN-ISLAMIC.

I hope that answers ur q's for now. Please let me know if u need any clarification as i have tried to be as lucid as possible. But if i missed anything, please let me know. I love and encourage interfaith discussions, especially for people who want to learn with an OPEN MIND.

You want facts about Islam? America DOESN'T trust ISLAM and its stated objectives to destroy any and all democratic forms of government in order to install Sharia law. For Islam to join the peaceful nations of the world will require clear answers to several throbbing questions. The three statements that are posted below are considered FACTS that have been verified by simple observation and by the writings of many Islamic scholars. I challenge you to provide HONEST responses to the questions below each FACT concerning allegedly "MODERATE" and "PEACEFUL" Islam. I've respectfully asked the same three questions of Muslims on several blogs but to this day I've only been lectured to and received threatening responses portraying their hatred of any non Muslim and a CLEAR and telling dodging of the questions. Will you be the first to clearly answer them?

1. Islamic law (Sharia) states that Muslims who convert to Christianity must be killed (Redda Law), women in adulterous relationships must be stoned to death, men can beat their wives to discipline them, and homosexuals should be killed.

Question: Are you willing to recommend that these traditional Muslim practices be banned and to condemn countries such as Saudi Arabia and Iran which accept such practices as religiously mandated?

2. Several Muslim texts declare that Jews are pigs and monkeys and that killing Jews before "end days" is a religious duty for Muslims.

Question: Are you willing to declare that these texts must be changed and/or reinterpreted and that Islamic teaching of such anti-Semitic values must stop?

3. Muslim texts that are approved by all the schools of jurisprudence in Islam (Shafeii, Hanbali, Maleki, and Hanafi) state that Muslims must declare wars against non-Muslims to spread Islam and those they conquer must either convert to Islam, pay Jizya (a humiliating tax), or be killed.

Question: Are you willing to declare that this belief, used in "Foutohhat Islameia," the early wars to spread Islam, and praised currently in much of the Muslim world, is un-Islamic and unacceptable?
